Well in my own experience with Jesus!

The relationship is what he wanted!

This I know cause he waited so long for me to call on him and surrender.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind! In my case hitting my knees on a clear night, and asking for help and being humble!

Is what finally gave me inner peace and path forward

This happen over 30 years ago

Even heard a voice, Which is funny because I always doubted people hear Jesus talking to them! But one day I heard you are blowing it! And a then a breeze!

In a windowless basement! Was astonishing in the least!

Because I knew exactly what he was talking about.

Took time anything worth it does!

This is a rather unfair characterization of the Eucharist and the Catholic Mass.

Joshua Charles, former speech writer for Mike Pence, is a great evangelist for Catholicism. A former Protestant who hated Catholicism, his curiosity led him to investigate Protestantism's claims about the RCC. By his admission, he's spent tens of thousands of dollars reading the church fathers. His website is Joshuatcharles.com. His outstanding X profile is @joshuatcharles.

Thank you for the reference. I'm reading a post on Joshua's site now. To be clear, my article was not intended to trigger an argument with Catholics. I could just as easily have written a post about pieces of Lutheran or Presbyterian liturgy, too. None of it is Biblical. None of it saves. Sometimes, it's helpful to have a routine in order to help provide order and structure. But when the routine becomes the main thing and starts to take on an air of mysticism far beyond anything Jesus ever commanded, God is not honored. When I get to heaven, I'm sure that I will find a whole bunch of wonderful Catholic brothers and sisters there with me. But I'm also pretty sure that they will be there in spite of their Catholicism, not because of it. Ditto with Lutherans, Presbyterians, etc. Denominations and liturgy don't save. That's the point of the article, in fact. Micah is clear about what God really wants from us: (1) Do what is right; (2) Love mercy; and (3) Walk humbly with your God. Are we willing to trust God when he tells us that, or do we need to add more?

Many non-Christians are walking humbly with a Christian God that they don't believe in or obey? That seems like a stretch. Surely, many people say that they are walking with "their god" of some sort. But that's not the same thing.

Further, nothing communicated to us in Micah contradicts anything said in the gospels. Specifically, Micah is not giving us a new pathway to heaven that somehow bypasses Jesus. Jesus is VERY CLEAR that he is the only way. Micah is telling us what sort of relationship God wants to have with us. But that relationship is predicated on our actually believing in Him, wanting to obey Him, etc.

"What conclusion I have come to is that the Mass and its rituals are our creature-created way to worship God."

Exactly. See Micah 6:6-7.
