If you watched Sheep Among Wolves, Volume II, over the last few weeks, you might have noticed the mention of “disciple making movements,” or “DMM.” When I first watched the movie, I was intrigued and started to do more research on DMM. It seemed to be one of the keys to how the Iranian church organizes and runs itself, and therefore grows and thrives.
At one point, I was talking to my mother about the movie and about DMM and she started to recommend a series of books about it. Frankly, I was surprised that she already knew about it, but that’s Mom — always one step ahead of me. I bought the books and devoured them. They were all well worth it. I’ve also found some more over time and I’ll share those in a later post.
For now, start with these.
All three talk at various levels about the DMM method of engaging people and growing disciples that reproduce other disciples. The Kingdom Unleashed probably has the most direct information about to do DMM, while the others describe the overall method in the context of stories about disciples being made. Contagious Disciple Making also includes a few chapters at the end with descriptions of the method.
If you have read these books before, leave a comment and tell me what you thought about them. If you’re interested in DMM, leave me a comment as well. In the new year, I’d like to start a Discovery Study with five or so people who are interested in DMM and seeing where it leads.
Today’s Prayer
Holy Father, maker of heaven and earth, who was and is and is yet to come, help us to step into your command given in the Great Commission to engage our culture and make disciples of all nations. What a pleasure it is to see your Kingdom coming and to be able to work with you to bring it about. Help us to act out of obedience to you, not in human power, but filled with your spirit and responding to your direction. Amen.

_The Kingdom Unleashed_ was published back when I was working with Afghan refugees locally, in 2018. I didn't hear about it back then, but I read a number of others as part of my training. Having just finished two other books on not-unrelated topics, I'm giving this one a look. Thank you.
It is gradually becoming clearer to me why there is relatively little persecution of Christians in the "developed" world. And that is all I will say.
I'm going to start reading these. Thanks. I've seen Sheep Among Wolves and watch other FAI Ministries videos. I've been struggling to find a group that will discuss or do Disciple Making. I'd be interested in a study.
